Evelyn Berry Brown

KERNERSVILLE - Evelyn Berry Brown, 94, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born December 21, 1917 in Caldwell Co. to the late Everette Webster and Violecta Mae Cook Berry. Mrs. Brown was a member of First Baptist Church in Kernersville and the Eastern Star. She started her beautician career in 1942 and continued until the age of 86, and was the owner and operator of Evelyn's Beauty Shop. Evelyn was an entrepreneur and had several business ventures. Evelyn was very involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren; she loved all of her family deeply. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Brown; three brothers, Byron, George, and Everette, Jr Berry. Surviving are her daughter, Pat Dickson and husband, Don of Swansboro; two sons, Wyatt Lefever and wife, Dolores of Kernersville, Ricky Brown and wife, Sheila of Claudville,VA; godson, Gary Lewis and wife, Kathy of Myrtle Beach, SC; step-son, Bobby G. Brown of Logan, NM; 12 grandchildren, Amber, Kirsten, Zach, Debbi, Robby, Randy, David, Lee, Valeria, Heather, Justin and Jason; 18 great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Dr. Stephen Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 PM Friday, March 2, 2012 at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Evelyn. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103.
