Evelyn Clayton Bridges

Mrs. Evelyn Clayton Bridges, 91, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Forsyth Medical Center. Evelyn was born on December 4, 1925, in Person County, NC, to the late Otto Young Clayton and Ruth Jones Clayton. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Winston-Salem since 1954. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bridges; four brothers, Harold Clayton, O.Y. Clayton, Meredith Clayton, and Dan Clayton; and one sister, Frances McKay. Evelyn is survived by her son, Charles Richard ""Rick"" Bridges (Sally) of Winston-Salem; one daughter, Gaye Bridges Price of Winston-Salem; four grandsons, Michael Bridges (Sara) of Clemmons, NC, John Bridges of Raleigh, NC, Zachary Bridges (Mary) Asheville, NC, and Chase Price of Charlotte, NC; three great-grandchildren, Ben Bridges, Lucy Bridges, and Malachy Bridges; numerous other loving relatives across the state of North Carolina; and two beloved cats, Midnight and Calie. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at First Baptist Church with Rev. David Williamson officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Kelly Auditorium at First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 501 West Fifth St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family of Mrs. Bridges.
