Evelyn Hutchins Arant

KERNERSVILLE-Evelyn H. Arant, 98, died Monday, June 8, 2009 at Britthaven of Kernersville. She was born on August 18, 1910 in Forsyth Co. to the late Charles A. and Ruth Palmer Hutchins. Mrs. Arant was a homemaker and a member of Glenn View Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Q. Arant; one grandson, Mark W. Norton; four brothers, Eugene F., W. Hal, C. Gray and Santford B. Hutchins; one sister, Mabel Hutchins Witherington. Surviving are one daughter, Joan Arant Norton (Alton); one son, John L. Arant (Annie Laura); one brother, Charles Andrew Hutchins all from Winston Salem; one sister, Kathryn Hutchins Cox of Greenville, NC; three grandchildren, David L. Norton, Vickie Arant Clontz, and Kelly Arant; two great-grandchildren, Maxi and Nick Clontz; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Glenn View Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Coleman officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103. Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the Arant family.
