WALKERTOWN - Evangelist Walter Solomon Ziglar, 79, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Universal Healthcare of King. Walter was born on December 31, 1933 in Forsyth County to the late Thomas William and Cora Leigh Overcash Ziglar. He served in the US Army and faithfully preached the Word of God for over 53 years. Walter was a loving father and grandfather and shared his love for children by spending a lot of time helping those in orphanages. He also had a green thumb for growing flowers and loved gardening. In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Amanda Ziglar; one grandson, Brandon Lypka; four brothers and three sisters. Surviving are two daughters, Paula Z. Noorani and Joy Z. Tilley; one son, Stan Ziglar; four grandchildren, Andrea (Jimmy) Ortiz-Cruz , Megan (Josh) Theis, Travis Tilley, and Austin Ziglar; six great grandchildren; four sisters, Catherine Bennett, Peggy Combs, Shirley Redmon and Linda (Richard) West. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Gospel Light Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday, May 31, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall.
