Eva Rushing

KERNERSVILLE – Eva Lynch Rushing, 80, passed away Monday, January 16, 2023. Eva was born on July 13, 1942 in Ashe County to Doran and Mae Welch Lynch. She was a devout member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church, where she led the United Methodist Women’s Circle #2 for many years. Eva retired from Henry Shavitz Real Estate Company after 30 years of service. She loved gardening and growing flowers, with peonies being among her favorite. Eva was also an avid UNC Tarheel fan, not often missing a game, and considered herself to be a great assistant coach! Additionally, she was a devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves.  Eva was the oldest sister from a family of eleven. She dearly loved her large extended family and always enjoyed planning family reunions.

In addition to her parents, Eva was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ray Rushing in 2015; one brother, Warner Lynch, also of Kernersville.

Surviving are her daughter, Amy Schmukler (Bruce); her son, Kegan Rushing; five brothers; four sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2023, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Pastor Chuck Ireson officiating.
