Mrs. Eva Mock Kiger, 93, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Kiger was born July 26, 1919 to the late Marvin Henry and Lillie Apperson Mock of Lewisville. She was a faithful member of Kingswood United Methodist Church, Epworth Bible Class, United Methodist Women and Senior Citizens. Mrs. Kiger retired from Western Electric with 27 years of service and a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Preceding her in death were her husband, Norman ""Sam"" Kiger; and three brothers, Gray, Vaughan and Dwight Mock. Surviving are a son, Daniel Norman Kiger and wife, Rebecca of State Road; three granddaughters: Victoria Kiger, Meredith Comer and Mary Kathryn Evanoff; a grandson, Tyler Norman; three great-granddaughters: Taylor, Tara and Heather Shaw, all of State Road; and also, a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 5 at Kingswood United Methodist Church with the Rev. R. Sidney Lanier officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Rural Hall Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center and at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home for the comfort and care they provided Mrs. Kiger.
