Eva Madeline Swaim Jones, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2010 in her daughter's home with her family surrounding her. She was born June 3, 1914 in Forsyth County to John and Eliza Swaim. She married Jack Jones on December 31, 1929. Surviving are their two sons, Alston ""Al"" Gray Jones and wife Elvie, Bobby Glenn Jones and wife Nancy; one daughter, Diane Jones Magaraci and husband Sam. She was blessed with twelve grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. She leaves behind two very special cats, Snowball and Reni, her four-legged children. She was preceded in death by her Papa and Momma; two brothers; husband, Jack; and a good friend, George Brady. Mrs. Jones was the oldest living member of First United Church of Christ where she helped lay the 7th brick in the cornerstone in 1927. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 31 at First United Church of Christ on Waughtown Street with the Rev. Wayne Linville officiating. Burial will be in Waughtown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 30 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Waughtown Cemetery Fund, c/o First United Church of Christ, 1912 Waughtown St., Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
