KERNERSVILLE - Eva Marie Hemrick Jones, 102, died Monday, January 26, 2015 at Shannon Gray Nursing Home. Eva was born on November 26, 1912 in Iredell County to George and Alice Sale Hemrick. Eva was the oldest living member of Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She sang in the church choir, was active in the women's circle and taught children's Sunday School for many years. Eva was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, devoted to her family.
In addition to her parents, Eva was preceded in death by her husband, William Glaster Jones; a son, Gary Jones; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Jones; a son-in-law, Wayne Heath; her grandson, Bryan Heath; four brothers, Paul, Dick, Frank and Ray Hemrick; and two sisters, Nina Hemrick and Mamie Denny.
Surviving are her daughter, Linda J. Heath; four grandchildren, Zach Heath (wife, Lauren), Greg Jones (wife, Allison), Christopher Jones (wife, Miwa) and Jordan Jones; nine great grandchildren, Matthew, Ellie and Hadley Heath and Billy, Riley, Luke, Ray, Julie and Hana Jones; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Jones; many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 - 11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
