Eva B. Groce

Eva B. Groce, 92, passed away December 19, 2012, at The Crest of Clemmons. Eva was born February 29, 1920 to Alice Hughes Brown and Tyree Everett Brown in Surry County. She graduated from Gray High School in 1937 and remained involved with her graduating class throughout the years. An active member of Bethel United Methodist Church, she served on the church board with her late husband, and also taught Sunday School. Eva loved birds and collecting birdhouses. She enjoyed gardening and was proud of her beautiful yard. Eva was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Robert Milton Groce, Sr. Surviving to cherish her memory are son, Robert, Jr., (LouAnne); daughter, Nancy Dailey; grandchildren, Amanda Dailey, Matthew Groce, Lauren Groce Faucette (Coty), Matt Lavigne, and Lisa Lavigne; and great grandchildren, Benjamin Faucette and Will Lavigne, and many loving nieces and nephews; also, a sister, Mary Allen (Wayman). A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, December 21, 2012, at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dana Wooten officitating. Burial will follow at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, at Hayworth-Miler Silas Creek Chapel.
