Eunice Long

Mrs. Eunice Nance Long, 92, of Winston-Salem, affectionately known as "The Big E" and "Manny", passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Kaye B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born October 16, 1925 in Union County to Rosa Lee Austin Nance and Jonah Sanford Nance. Mrs. Long was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she loved her Bible Fellowship Class. She sang in the Voices in Praise Senior Adult Choir as well. Mrs. Long was an active member of Peacehaven ECA and retired from the Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools after 32 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Long and three brothers, Lee Nance, Bridger Nance and Earl Nance. Surviving are her two sons, David W. Long (Sonya) and Charles A. Long (Kathryn), all of Winston-Salem; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Long and one sister, Janie Kelley of Marshville, NC. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their compassion and care shown to Mrs. Long. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Forsyth Memorial Park with Pastor Gary Byrum officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice or to Calvary Baptist Church.
