Eulalia "Tuck" Solomon

Eulalia Tucker (""Tuck"") Solomon passed away May 24. She was born November 18, 1924 in Oakboro, NC. Her parents were Mary Smith Tucker and A.E. Tucker. Eulalia grew up in Albemarle, NC. She was valedictorian of her class at Albemarle High School.
After high school, Eulalia went to UNC-G in Greensboro. While there she sang in the choir and was inducted into Tau Psi Omega (national honorary French fraternity), Sigma Delta Pi (national honorary Spanish fraternity), and Phi Beta Kappa. She went to UNC Chapel Hill where she earned her master's degree in French.
In 1949 Eulalia married Vance Solomon who also grew up in Albemarle. They met at the same church where they later married. They became the happy parents of two children, Jerry and Debbie, of whom they were quite proud. They are also grandparents of two, Jesse Vance Solomon and Emma Grace Solomon Venable.
When Knollwood Baptist Church was about two years old, Tuck and Vance became members and remained there as active members until their deaths.
Tuck had experience teaching French and Spanish at Elizabeth City High School, Chapel Hill High School, Reynolds High School, and Parkland High School. She was a lifetime member of the National Education Association and the UNC Alumni Association. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Knollwood Baptist Church, 330 Knollwood St., Winston-Salem, with Dr. Bob Setzer, Jr. officiating.
