""Her children arise up and call her blessed"" Proverbs 31:28 Eula Maness Darr, 89, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC. She was born October 15, 1920 in Chatham County, NC to Millard Maness and Annie Lula Hicks Maness. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Cletus Lacy Darr, on September 10, 2009 and two brothers, Jay Maness and James Maness. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church for over 55 years and was retired from the Salem Baptist Christian Day School Cafeteria. Mrs. Darr was a loving, devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her life was a testimony of her love for her Lord Jesus Christ. She loved reading and studying her Bible, and always prayed daily for her family, friends, and church. She also enjoyed cooking for her family, especially her Saturday morning breakfasts for her grandson Sam, whose favorite expression was that he never left Grandma's house hungry. She is survived by a daughter, Vanessa Underwood and husband Garmon, of Rural Hall, NC; a son, Gary Darr and wife, Cheryl of Lexington, NC; a precious grandson, Sam Darr, who loved his grandma very much. Also surviving are a step-granddaughter, Tracey Underwood, a step -great grandson, Tyler Decker, both of Lexington, NC; sisters Margaret Phillips, Doris Guthrie, Lessie Mote, all of Siler City, NC; brothers Tom Maness and wife Brenda; Charlie Maness and wife Mae; Earl Maness, all of Snow Camp, NC; Gurney Maness and wife Ernestine of Liberty, NC; and Millard Maness, Jr. of Siler City, NC, and also many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Dr. Howard Wilburn, and Rev. Jim Bush officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery, Old Greensboro Road, Thomasville, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church, 429 S. Broad Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101; Grace Baptist Temple, 3305 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27127; or Kate B.
