Mrs. Eugenia Vetarie "Sam" Brown McGrath, 83, passed away January 26, 2018 at her home. She was born in Kingstree, SC on January 22, 1935 to the late Henry David Brown and Carrie Bell Lockliear Brown. Sam was a graduate of Columbia College and worked for the South Carolina Tax Commission; then in 1969 she married the love of her life and moved to Winston-Salem where she became a homemaker. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" William McGrath. Sam is survived by her brother, Vernon Brown; three children: Gina Wagoner, Connie Wright, and Steve Anthony; two grandchildren, Amanda Wagoner and Andrew Wagoner; and two nephews, Richard Brown and David Brown. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Chapel with Minister John Snow officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service. The family would like to extend a special thank you out to Piedmont Home Health for their service for the last two years. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
