Eugene I. Neal

Eugene I. Neal, 90, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Davidson County Hospice Care. Gene was born October 24, 1922 in Tannersville, VA to the late Edward R. and Virginia B. Neal. He was a member of Wesleyan Methodist Church. Gene was retired from McLean after 25 years of service. He ran Neal's Gumtree Service, and also worked for Journal Newspaper, I.L. Long, and A.M. Haire. In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by brothers, Allen Neal and Samuel F. Neal; and a sister, Clara Elizabeth (Liz) Neal. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Lorraine H. Neal; daughter, Beverly Ann Neal of Winston-Salem; son, Michael E. Neal (Rebecca) of Tazewell, VA; brother, Wiley L. Neal; and sisters, Helen N. Franklin of Tannersville, VA, Josephine N. Robinson of Clinton, NC and June Necessary of Tazewell, VA. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 13 at the Neal Family Cemetery.
