Eugene Rudolph Johnson

Eugene Rudolph Johnson, 78, of Winston-Salem, died Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born on December 22, 1930 in Plaisance Village, Guyana, South America. He immigrated to Great Britain in 1958 where he qualified as a Civil and Structural Engineer. He arrived in the United States of America in 1979 and resided in New Jersey. He worked for the New York Power Authority as a Civil and Structural Engineer and retired from their Nuclear Power Department. He came south to Winston-Salem to his retirement home. He was known for his warm and friendly disposition. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 55 years, Iris. Left to mourn are his brother, Robert of Guyana; Sisters, Pearle, Patricia, and Olivia and a brother, Walton of Great Britain; daughters, Edwina, Nodica, Diahann, Olivia, and Courtney; sons, Tregonne and Joseph; granddaughters, Kadijah, Sierra, Treskole', and Yonella; grandsons, Michael, Isaiah, and Chase; sisters and brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, and many dear friends. Funeral services will be conducted at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church on Monday, January 26, 2009 at 11:00am. Viewing prior to the service will be from 10:30am. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 25, 2009 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
