Eugene M. Cook

Mr. Eugene Melzar ""Gene"" Cook, 80, of Winston-Salem passed away Monday, June 20, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born November 16, 1930 in Wake County to Melzar Loffe and Pauline Olive Cook. Mr. Cook was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was active and very involved with the Jail Ministry at Calvary Baptist Church for many years. Surviving is his wife, Hilde Pauli Cook; two daughters, Pam Richards and husband Milani of Fayetteville and Mary Whitfield and husband Robert of Augusta GA; two sons, Raymond Cook and wife Gwynne of Raleigh and Mark Cook and wife Dawn of Charlotte; nine grandchildren, Katherine and Blake Richards, Brian and Kristin Whitfield, and Abigal, Ashley, Valerie, Miranda and Vander Cook. He is also survived by three sisters, Patsy Frazee, Linda Shirley and Fay Lane. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Chapman and Chaplain Dan Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park.
