Etta Jean Long Young

Mrs. Etta Jean Long Young, 74, of Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

Etta was born March 26, 1942 in Buncombe County to Wayne Rufus Long and Henrietta Bolton Long. She worked for many years as a teacher's aide at Northwest Elementary in Davidson County and was a member of Forsyth Civitan Club. Etta was a member of Advent Moravian Church, where she served as Co-Chair of the Board of Elders. Serving at her church was very important to her, and she dearly loved her church family and friends.

Etta is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Larry Young; daughters, Lauren Young and Dana Young (Smith); grandchildren, Mallory Smith and boyfriend Efrain Franco Rivera (Tito), Mason Smith, and Elizabeth Young; sister, Lucy Holt; brother, Tom Long and wife Sandra; many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews; and special friends, Frances Clodfelter and Mackenzie Clodfelter.

A celebration of Etta's life will be held Monday, February 13, 2017 at 12 pm at Advent Moravian Church with Rev. Dr. Tim Sapp officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
