Mrs. Ethel ""Nook"" Brown Starbuck, age 76 of Rural Hall passed away Sunday afternoon October 25, 2009 at Oak Forest Health and Rehabilitation in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Starbuck was born November 20, 1932 in Watauga County to the late Harden Clevo and late Chaney Pearl Isenhour Brown. She attended Jefferson Church of Christ while her husband Gray was living and retired from First Citizens Bank in Rural Hall. Mrs. Starbuck enjoyed reading, cross stitching and spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents Mrs. Starbuck was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Gray Starbuck, One sister: Esther Nichols and three brothers: George, Ralph and Porter Brown. Surviving are her daughters: Lori (Ken) Sawyer of Rural Hall and Gina (Andy) Muse of Tobaccoville. Five grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Bradley Sawyer also Adam, Andrew and Aaron Muse. One sister: Marie Wall of Siloam. Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall with burial to follow at Jefferson Church of Christ in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening October 27, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to Jefferson Church of Christ Cemetery Fund, 8200 Jefferson Church Road, Rural Hall, NC 27045 The Starbuck family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff at Oak Forest Health and Rehabilitation for the care and love they provided during their mother's illness.
