Ethel May Poindexter Brewer

Ethel May Poindexter Brewer, 89, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was a native of Forsyth County and was born to William Sampson Poindexter and Mary Magdaline (Maggie) Stilly Poindexter on August 28, 1921. She was a devoted member of Mount Tabor United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey C. (June) Brewer, Jr., her parents, four sisters, and one brother. She is survived by her three sons, Donald W. Brewer and wife Judy of Yadkinville, Dallas E. (Gene) Brewer and wife Donna of Clemmons, and a very special son, Dewey C. (D-Bird) Brewer III of Winston-Salem, along with five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Bob Poindexter and wife Marie of Clemmons, and sisters Betty Miller of Lewisville and Evelyn Boles of Winston-Salem. Mrs. Brewer was a dedicated, loving, and devoted mother to her three sons. She instilled in her sons, and all that knew her, the true lessons in life regarding respect for others and the value of appreciating what you have. She taught us that each day is a gift from God and we should use it wisely. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm on Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at 2:00pm at Mount Tabor United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Mahathey and the Rev. Earl Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to express their most sincere appreciation to the staff of Crest of Clemmons and Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their dedication and loving care shown to our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
