Esther Joy Salmons

Esther Joy Salmons, 61, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. She was born on April 11, 1955 in Welch, West Virginia to Joseph and Ruth Baker Sturgill. Esther retired from Vocational Rehabilitation Services where she worked as an office assistant. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 11 years Larry Salmons of Winston Salem; her daughter Charlene Mabe and her husband Greg of Winston Salem; her grandchildren Wesley, Caroline, Isabella, Matthew, and Olivia Mabe all of Winston Salem; her brother Ronnie Sturgill of Bluefield, WV; two sister-in-laws Terri Childress and Carol Salmons of Winston Salem; one niece Hannah Minor and one nephew Drew Childress, both of Winston Salem. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, May 27 at 1pm at Parkview Church of God in Winston Salem with Reverend Bobby Dishman officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:45am to 12:45pm prior to the service May 27 at Parkview Church of God. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Wake Forest Baptist Health and the staff of Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home at 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
