Ernestine Mills Owens

Mrs. Ernestine Mills Owens, 77, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Village Care in King. She was born in Haywood Co. on March 13, 1938 the daughter of the late Harvey and Roxie Mills. Mrs. Owens was of the Baptist faith and taught Sunday School for many years at Calvary Baptist Church in King. She loved children and provided childcare in her home for many years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant daughter; Debra Ann Owens, her husband; Jack Owens, a sister and three brothers. Mrs. Owens is survived by a son; Terry Owens of King, a daughter; Leslie Tuttle and husband Jeff of Rural Hall, three grandchildren; Chris Tuttle and wife Melissa of Raleigh, Brittany Ritchey and husband Justin of Tobaccoville and Nathan Tuttle of Rural Hall and two great-grandchildren; Mason and Eli Ritchey. She is also survived by a sister; Frances Childress and husband Joe of Rural Hall and a brother; David Mills of King. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall with Rev. Jon White and Preacher Roger Baker officiating. Private burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 prior to the service at the church.
