Ernestine 'Tine' Cook Lackey, of Winston-Salem, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 18, 2012. She was born in High Point to Carl Cook and Claudia Lueva Rogers. Tine graduated from Trinity High School and was on the basketball team as well as the cheerleading squad. Tine met her future husband, Jessie Edwin Lackey at City Lake in High Point. She enjoyed both the mountains and Myrtle Beach. Tine went to work at Arcade Fashion Shop when Parkway Plaza opened in 1960 and worked there as manager until Arcade closed in 1987. She then worked at Belk until retiring in 1998. She enjoyed people coming up to her and saying they remembered her at Arcade, and always with fond things to say about the store and the people that worked there. Ernestine was preceded in death by her sisters, Linda Underwood, Ila Mae Summy, and a very special sister, Ruby Myers and husband Leo Myers. She is survived by her son, David Lackey; and two brothers, Carl Cook, Jr. and Roger Cook. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 21 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Doug Hochmuth officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
