Ernestine Owen Conrad

Mrs. Ernestine Owen Conrad, 93, passed away December 28, 2023. She was born May 11, 1930, in Forsyth County, to the late Ernest Henry Owen and Oda Irene Hauser Owen. Ernestine graduated from Old Richmond High School. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ernestine loved cooking and spending time with her family. She retired from the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System after 20 years of service as an office assistant. Ernestine was a faithful member of Mount Pleasant Methodist Church where she played the piano for 50 years, taught Sunday School classes, and led the children’s Christmas programs for many years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Coy B. Conrad; her sister, Violet Jones; and nephew, Michael Jones. She is survived by her three children, Carol Jeffords (Benny), Pam McMurray (Bob), and Steve Conrad (Jo Ellen); six grandchildren, Andrea Bostic (Carey), Brian Jeffords (Jennifer), Laura Weaver (Chad), Sarah West (Nathan), Chris Jones (Tracy); and Randy Conrad; and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted 3:00 PM Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Mount Pleasant Methodist Church with Pastor David Joyce officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM Sunday, December 31, 2023, at Mount Pleasant Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to Mountain Valley Hospice, 1427 Edgewood Drive, Suite 101, Mount Airy, NC or Mount Pleasant Methodist Church.
