Ernest Jackson Williams

Mr. Ernest Jackson Williams, 85, of Advance, passed away Sunday January 16, 2010 at his home. Mr. Williams was born in Carroll County, VA on August 7, 1925 to Andrew Jackson and Ola Crotts Williams. He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during World War II. Mr. Williams retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, and was a longtime employee of Shamrock Transportation as a truck driver. Mr. Williams was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and a member of the V.F.W as well as the District 11 Memorial Honor Guard. He was preceded in death by his wife Sadie Whisenhunt Williams, his parents; three brothers; and two sisters. Mr. Williams is survived by a daughter Connie Bailey and husband Carl of Advance; two sons, Ronnie Williams and wife Janet of Winston-Salem, and Ricky Williams and wife Judy of Advance; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Bailey and wife Lori, Jamie Bailey Naylor and husband Scott , Paul Williams and wife Andi, Mark Williams and wife Annie, Angela Brown and husband Chuck, and Philip Williams and wife Wendy; ten great grandchildren, Joni Bailey, Haley Brown, Miranda Bailey, Olivia, Jesse, and Jake Naylor, Ainsley and Luke Williams, Corbin Jackson Williams, and Savannah Brown; and a sister Mozelle Winesett of Galax, VA. A graveside service, with military rites provided by the District 11 VFW Memorial Honor Guard, will be conducted 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory with the Rev. Wayne Swisher officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel.
