Ernest “Airplane” Parker Burton

Kernersville- Ernest ""Airplane"" Parker Burton, 87, went home to be with The Lord, Friday, August 9, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. Ernest was born October 24, 1925 in Guilford County to the late Oscar Dennis Burton and O'shea Edwards Burton. Mr. Burton was a charter member of Kerwin Community Tabernacle, and loved attending singings at church on Saturday nights. Parker also loved airplanes, animals and fishing at the coast. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Carolyn Mae Burton, and his two brothers, Leon and Ernest R. Burton. Survivors include his loving wife of 69 yrs. Dorothy Eaton Burton of Walkertown; three children Shirley Martin (David) of Walkertown, Larry Parker Burton (Teresa) of Winston-Salem, and Sharon Winters (Allen) of Kernersville; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00PM, Monday, August 12, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Garland Glascoe and Rev. Carl Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Gur Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30PM, Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
