Erma Luella Gordon Griffin

Mrs. Erma Luella Gordon Griffin, of Rural Hall, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2011 at her home. She was born June 20, 1927 in Forsyth County to the late Miles and Alice Gordon. Mrs. Griffin was a member of First Baptist Church of Rural Hall. Mrs. Griffin was a dedicated wife and wonderful mother. She was a great housekeeper and enjoyed decorating her house seasonally. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Griffin; one grandson, Donald Earl Griffin, Jr.; five brothers and two sisters. Surviving are her two sons, Don Griffin (Denise) of Rural Hall and Terry Griffin (Janet) of Rural Hall; five grandchildren, Tina Hamilton (Eddie) of La Grange, NC, Deitra Faith Lackey (Jason) of Rural Hall, Wayne Griffin (Valerie) of Winston-Salem, Jon Griffin (Teresa) of Walnut Cove and Jacob Griffin (Hillary) of Rural Hall; four great-grandchildren, Wyat, Nate, Lane and Julian; one sister, Ila Mae Overby of Lawsonville; special niece and caregiver, Doris Myrick of Winston-Salem; and caregivers, Di Hicks, Teresa Griffin, Sonya Santanos, Phylliss Moore and Kate Fuller. A Funeral Service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 23 at First Baptist Church of Rural Hall with the Rev. Keith McKinney officiating. Burial will follow at Rural Hall Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 22 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
