Mrs. Erlene Owens Gibbons, age 83 of Winston-Salem passed away September 5, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Gibbons was born in Surry County January 25, 1927 to the late Robert and late Ennis Coon Owens. She was a charter member of Old Town Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Erlene was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed cooking and working in her flowers. In addition to her parents, Erlene was preceded in death by one sister; Pat Smith and two brothers; Randall and Clyde Owens. Surviving are her husband of 63 years of marriage; Willie Gibbons of the home. Two daughters; Bonnie (Tim) Cook of Meadows of Dan, VA and Becky G. Lusk of Winston-Salem. Two grandsons; Jonathan and Jeffrey Lusk. Three sisters; Nelle Duggins, Mozelle (Wiley) Hawks and Lucille Rippey all of King. Several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 2:00 P.M at Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem by Dr. Rick Speas. There will be no formal visitation.
