Emory Lewis Coleman

Emory ""Moe"" Lewis Coleman went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 26, 2014. He was born on Thursday, May 12, 1932 to the late Elson B. and Lula Jackson Coleman. He spent his entire life in the Waughtown Community. He was a long time member of Waughtown Baptist Church and Trustee of Waughtown Cemetery. He loved history and did a lot of work researching family in Wilkes, Iredell, Yadkin, and Forsyth Counties. Emory liked to fish and raise vegetable and wildflower gardens. He worked for R.J. Reynolds for 38 years. He attended Waughtown Elementary and Gray High Schools. Emory was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Mary Martin Coleman; one brother, Wilford ""Will"" Coleman; sisters, Lorene Martin, Juanita Tesh, Mary Dowd, Annie Mae Coleman, Brenda Coleman, and Judy Gail Coleman. Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 8 years, Carolyn Hester Williams Coleman (and our little pal Ginger); his children, Terry Coleman (wife Betsy), Patricia Stewart (husband Billy), Vickie Marsh (husband Bill), David Coleman (Kimberly). Also surviving are five grandchildren, Julie Baker Largen Newman (husband Barry), John T. Baker, Jr., Kristi Gough (husband Josh), Tiffany Stewart, and Nicholas Coleman; three sisters, Josephine Mock (husband Fred), Sandra Weaver, and Rachel Coleman; eight great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Martin Raker (husband Lamar), Betty Martin Coleman, Pattie Martin Dowell; and brother-in-law, Nelson Dowd; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Also surviving are four stepchildren of Albemarle, Tanya Williams Burgess (husband Danny), Lydia Williams Smith, Kristi Williams Humphrey (husband Chad), and Billy Williams (wife Amy). Also surviving are eight great stepchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Waughtown Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Brackett officiating. Burial will follow in Waughtown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Emory's wishes as well as the family's is to express many thanks to Dr. Betsy English (Winston-Salem Health Care), Dr. Todd Greenwood (Nephrology Associates), Salem Hemodialysis Center (for their eight years of care and concern), Dr. Kenneth Gallop (Salem Chest Specialists), Dr. Thomas Grote (Forsyth Regional Cancer Center), and everyone at Hospice and Palliative Care Center. Also Emory and his wife Carolyn wanted to be sure that many thanks were made to Bill Marsh for his friendship and dedication in taking Emory to and from his dialysis appointments three days a week.
