Mrs. Emma Lee Brown Thomas, 84, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at the Elms Memory Center in Clemmons where she had been a resident for the last five years. She was born July 2, 1926 to the late George W. Brown and Mattie Berrier Brown. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church in Clemmons where she attended as long as her health permitted. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Irvin Hamilton Thomas Sr. and a wonderful son, Irvin Hamilton ""Sonny"" Thomas Jr. Mrs. Thomas is survived by a daughter, Charlotte Slater, two granddaughters, Amber Slater and Emily Slater, two great- grandchildren, several loving and supportive nieces and nephews and many special friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Friday, January 28, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Rural Hall with her nephew, Rev. Barry Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The family will receive friends from 1:30 -2:30 prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Union Hill Baptist Church, 8474 Lasater Lake Rd., Clemmons, NC 27012. The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of the Elms for the special loving care over the past five years.
