Emma A. "Toots" Everhart

WINSTON-SALEM-Mrs. Emma A. ""Toots"" Everhart, 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away quietly on Friday, May 23, 2014 at her home. She was born on February 26, 1929 in Forsyth County to John Henry and Mary Hart Anderson. She lived her entire life in Winston-Salem. Emma was a very kind, loving person who loved her family and friends. She was a member of Immanuel New Eden Moravian Church. On May 24, 1947 she married Wallace ""Freck"" Everhart who preceded her in death in 1991 along with her parents. She is survived by two daughters, Wanda Potts and husband, Larry of Midway, NC and Debbie Everhart of the home. One granddaughter, Tracy Schweikert and a grandson, Travis Potts who were always there for her and she loved them dearly. She is also survived by one great-granddaughter and five great-grandsons; two sisters, Joyce Meeks and Ruth Benton and her special companion dog, Mitzi. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Cheryl G. Cottingham officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. James Day, Pastor Cheryl Cottingham, and her sister, Joyce Meeks for always being there and for all the prayers, support and love given to them. Emma will be missed greatly by her family but she put up a long battle with strength, determination and faith and is now in the hands of God with her loved ones who have preceded her in death.
