Emily Hall Southern (Emmy), 68, passed away at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Forsyth County to the late James Marshall Hall and Melba Grace Covington Hall. Emily was preceded in death by her brother, Barry Hall and special uncle Robert Smith, aunt and uncle Hettie and Dell Hall. She is survived by her devoted husband of 30 years Larry Southern, daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Todd Lomax; the lights of her life, her grandchildren, Kayla and Tanner, her nephew and niece, Bryan and Denise, her great nieces, Madisyn, Maycie and Millye, God-Son, Scotty Mankins; brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Carmel Hall, sister-in-law Rachel Hall; special Aunt Peggy Smith; many other special family members and friends; Larry and Reba Mankins, Janet Cox, Don and Carolyn Harbour, Steve Robinson and Bonnie Whitaker. Emmy’s love for sports and children allowed her to touch many lives over the years. Everyone held a special piece of her heart, especially her grandchildren, nephew and nieces. Emily’s passion was Nursing and educating young people to succeed in life and she would want you to continue to strive to do your best and work hard towards your goals. As the old saying goes “Choose a job you love and you will never work a day in your life” and if you knew Emmy this was true for her. If you would like to pay your respects to Emmy, you may visit Hayworth Miller, Rural Hall Chapel; Monday, January 24 from 11:30am – 5:30pm or Tuesday, January 25, from 12:30pm – 5:30pm. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make donations to West Stokes Athletics, 1400 Priddy Road, King NC or East Surry Athletics, 801 West Main St, Pilot Mountain in honor of Emmy.
