Elvin Shoaf

Mr. Elvin Shoaf, 80, of Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born October 14, 1932 in Forsyth County to Carl Augustus and Fallie Myers Shoaf. Mr. Shoaf was retired from AT&T (Western Electric) after 37 ½ years of service, and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving in Korea. He was a faithful member of Church of Christ at Ketner's Chapel. He loved his family, gardening and eating. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers; and one sister. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Jo Ann Swaim Shoaf; four children, Cynthia K. Davis (Barry), Kathy Marie Shoaf, Michael Elvin Shoaf and Jeffrey Wayne Shoaf; four grandchildren, Barry Julian Davis Jr., Rebecca Lynn Davis, Natalie Faye Shoaf, and Caroline Emily Shoaf; a sister, Rosemary Stewart (Arkon); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 23 at Church of Christ at Ketner's Chapel with Mr. James Percival officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, December 22 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
