Elva Andrews Rice

COLFAX-Elva Norris Andrews Rice, 88 passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at her home. She was born December 20, 1926 in Guilford Co. to the late Ernest Albert and Della Kirkman Andrews. Elva was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Colfax and served in the primary. She worked for Hanes Hosiery for many years before retiring from Gilbarco. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mitzi Rice; granddaughter, Amy Lynn Brown; and a great-grandson, Hunter Rice. Surviving are her husband of 69 years, William Albert Rice, Sr. of the home; son, William Albert Rice, Jr. and wife, Sue of Winston Salem; daughter, Vicki Rice Brown and husband, Teddy of Greensboro; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ellanette Andrews of High Point, Peggy Jo Andrews of Greensboro, and Irma Jean Brower of High Point. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Colfax with Bishop Scott Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Sandy Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2015 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
