Mrs. Elva Jennings Schuyler Griffin, 89, of Rural Hall died Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born October 8, 1921 in Grayson County, VA, the daughter of the late Fielden H. and Ollie Poole Jennings. Mrs. Griffin was a former member of Boyer's Chapel Church of Christ and Southfork Church of Christ and was presently a member of Berean Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Lewisville High School. She has been Office Manager at Huffman Sanitation Service and worked part time at J. C. Penny's. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd Schuyler; two sons, Dickie Schuyler and Joe Schuyler; and her son-in-law, Ernest Doby. Survivors include her husband, William Kelly Griffin of the home; one son, Rocky Schuyler of Clemmons; two daughters, Jacquie S. Doby of Charlotte and Skokie Roberts and husband, Vern of Galax, VA; eight grandchildren, Kristie Wilson and husband, Jamie of Hickory, Mandy Doby of Birmingham, ALAngie Vasquez and husband, Philip of Crouse, Casey Doby and wife, Mary of Charlotte, Brandi Clark and husband, Kris of Manassas, VA, Lori Overby and husband, Brandon of Spartanburg, SC, Topper Jennings and wife, Megan of Galax, VA and Ethan Schuyler of Pilot Mountain; three great grandchildren; Addison Wilson, Brodie Wilson and Nathan Vasquez; one brother, Roy Jennings and wife, Ossi of Winston-Salem; one sister, Grace Spainhour and husband, Paul Ray of Lewisville; two daughters-in-law, Janice Schuyler of Winston-Salem and Cindy Schuyler of Pilot Mountain; one stepson, Ronnie Griffin and wife, Jan of Germanton; one stepdaughter, Sandra Prater and husband, Kenny of Kernersville; five step grandchildren; and seven step great grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 10:00 AM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Ron Baity officiating. Burial will follow in Boyer's Chapel Church of Christ Cemetery.
