Elsie Mary Miertl Miller

Elsie Mary Miertl Miller, 92, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. She was born September 16, 1918 in Alleghany County, Pennsylvania to the late Charles and Mary Miertl. She and her husband, Ray, were married in 1940 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a devoted and supportive wife to her husband of 70 years, and a loving mother to her only child, Chuck. She was a wonderful home maker and enjoyed cooking, working in her rock garden and walking her dogs. She was an avid reader, and loved playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Miller was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons, NC. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her sister Rose Hoge, brother Henry Miertl, and grandson Nelson Scott Miller. She is survived by her husband, Raymond R. Miller, and her son, Charles R. Miller and his wife, Myra, of Germanton, NC; two grandsons, Raymond M. Miller and his wife, Marsha, of Roswell, GA, and Scott C. Miller and his wife, Jenna, of Cincinnati, OH; granddaughter Katie M. Mital and her husband Tom, of Bend, OR; great-grandsons Ben Miller and Ethan Miller; and great-granddaughter, Samantha Miller. A funeral mass will be conducted at Holy Family Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 5. Interment will follow in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home (Silas Creek Pkwy) on Friday, February 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
