Eloise Nunn Gordon Masche, 92 passed away peacefully at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home on January 17, 2022. She was preceded in death by her first husband and the love of her life, Donald Gordon, by her daughter, Donna Gordon Williams, by her parents, Nell and W.R. Nunn, by her second husband, John Masche, and by her brother and sister-in-law, Bill (Pezer) and Erleen Nunn. Eloise is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Pandora Gordon, her grandchildren and their spouses, Ashley (James) Duncan, Laura (Matt) Mussell and Alex (Kristi) Williams, her great granddaughter, Madeline Mussell, as well as her niece Daughn (David) Eagan and nephew, Gordon Nunn (Leslie Rubinkowski). Eloise was born in Winston-Salem and was a graduate of Hanes High School. She worked at HanesBrands Inc. for 26 years and was a Purchasing Agent most of her career. As her vendors can attest, she took great pride in demanding and getting their lowest price. As longtime members of the Wake Forest University Deacon Club, Eloise and John rarely missed a football or basketball game, home or away and were able to enjoy many trips across the country following the Deacons. They developed many friendships along the way, especially with basketball Coach Carl Tacy and basketball player Guy Morgan and their families. They were also dedicated supporters of all of their grandchildren’s sports and theater activities. After retirement, Eloise was a tireless volunteer for many local charities. Notably, she was instrumental in helping to sustain an annual fundraiser at Bermuda Run Country Club for over 20 years benefiting the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, raising over $800,000. To that end, it was fitting that Eloise was able to spend her final three days there in peace and comfort. The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support over the past three months, but especially her friends and neighbors, Dr. Allen & Patty Chamovitz and Brad Troutman who were there every step of the way to provide comfort, care and love for Eloise. Eloise would love knowing that anyone wishing to honor her memory would do so with a donation to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home/Trellis, 101 Hospice Lane, W-S, NC 27103. There will be a visitation at Bermuda Run Country Club on Jan. 28, 2022 from 3:30 – 6pm. Due to Covid concerns, attendees will be asked to follow safety protocols.
