Elois McGee Ingram

KERNERSVILLE-Elois McGee Ingram, 85, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born on October 16, 1925 in Guilford Co. to the late Floyd Ernest and Ila Walker McGee. Mrs. Ingram was a lifelong member of Union Grove Baptist Church where she was very active in the Women's Missionary Union. She taught Sunday school and served as director of the library & media center. After graduating from Kernersville High School in 1942, she started her working career at Dun & Bradstreet and Pilot Life Insurance Company. Her love of teaching and children led her to a career in early childhood education as a pre-school and kindergarten teacher at Main Street Baptist Church in Kernersville. She went on to Oak Ridge United Methodist Church Weekday School where she served as director, preschool, and kindergarten teacher for over 30 years In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Joseph William ""Bill"" Ingram, Sr.; three brothers, Horace, Norbert, and Wayne McGee; and her daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Kyles Ingram. Surviving are her two daughters, Nancy Buchanan and husband, Bill and Marianne Jones and husband, Wess all of Kernersville; her son, J.W. Ingram, Jr. of Charlotte; and eight grandchildren, Andrea and Austin Jones, Jamie, Rachel, Jacob, Andrew, Rebekah, and John Ingram. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Union Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Dean and Dr. Brooks Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
