Elmer Samuel McGee

KERNERSVILLE - Mr. Elmer Samuel McGee, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather went to be with the Lord, September 11, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born February 28, 1920 to the late Eugene Oscar and Mary Della Rutledge McGee. He was a master carpenter and cabinet maker, who did carpentry work for the Kernersville Library, and made the banisters in Four Seasons Mall and many other churches and businesses in Greensboro and Kernersville. Mr. McGee loved to play the harmonica. He was preceded in death by six loving brothers, and sisters. Surviving are his loving wife, Blanche Imogene Beeson McGee of 69 yrs.; three daughters Brenda Fuller and husband, Michael B. Fuller Sr. of Texas, Pat Stewart and husband, Mike, and Diane Maynard and husband, Tony all of Kernersville; two sons, Richard McGee of the home and Greg McGee and wife, Catherine of the home; one brother, Paul McGee and wife, Betty of Kernersville; and one sister, Dot Hedgcock and husband, Ivey of Kernersville; ten grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren who love and cherish their grandpa. A funeral service will be conducted 3:00 PM Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Union Grove Baptist Church in Kernersville by Rev. Paul Dean, Rev. Neal Eller, and Rev. Brooks Hunt. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory.
