Mr. Ellis T. ""Buddy"" Donaldson of Winston-Salem passed away peacefully Sunday, May 15, 2011. He was born on Feb. 7, 1933, to Earl and Bertha Donaldson of Albemarle, NC. Mr. Donaldson was a graduate of Catawba College. He retired as the Chief of the Department of Adjudication in Winston-Salem after 31 years of service in the North Carolina Division of Veterans Affairs Regional Office. Mr. Donaldson is survived by: a son, Alan Donaldson and his wife Billie of Lewisville; a daughter, Denise D. Nelson and her husband Joe of Sherrills Ford; four grandchildren, Emily and Jill Donaldson, and Devin and Jake Nelson; step grandchildren, Ashley Ward and her husband Cass and their children Owen and Oliver, and Mary Sullivan and her children David and Riley; one great-grandchild Jeremiah Donaldson, son of Jill Donaldson, and a brother, Earl Robert Jr. ""Bob"" Donaldson and his wife Anne of Greenville, SC, and their children. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at the Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with the Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. The family will receive friends before the service, from 2:00- 3:00 pm Wednesday, in the chapel.
