Ellen Guyan

Mrs. Ellen Brooke Wilder Guyan, 72, passed away after a brave and lengthy battle with cancer on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Summerstone Health and Rehabilitation. She was born on May 27, 1950, in Portsmouth, VA to Fred Maurice and Anne Benton Wilder, Jr. Ellen was a Registered Nurse and worked as one in the Operating Room for 40 years. She was a huge fan of NASCAR, loved listening to country music, and enjoyed spending time at the beach. Ellen fiercely loved her family and taught them what love was. Her grandchildren were her top priority in her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be greatly missed.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Steve Guyan; one daughter, Christy Snipes; one son, Bryan Snipes (wife, Kristi); one stepson, Aaron Guyan; five grandchildren, Alexander Guyan, Archie Guyan, Elisha Snipes, Colton Snipes, and Shelby Snipes; and one brother, William Wilder.

There will be a private family service held for Ellen. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ellen’s honor at The Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation at the website https://netrf.org/get-involved/give-now/. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
