Ellane Tipton Payne Watkins

Ellane Tipton Payne Watkins passed away Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living. Ellane was born May 15, 1927 to Donald Z. Tipton and Cordia Little Tipton in Alexander County. Ellane was a very active member of Friedberg Moravian Church. She retired from RJR with 38 years of service. She was also an active member of the Lions Club. Ellane was preceded in death by her husbands, Grover Eugene Payne, and O. June Watkins; as well as a son, Fred Payne. Survivors include son, Ron Payne (Gayle) of Plantation, FL; grandchildren, Joy Prevatte, Jason Payne, Jami Sink; great grandchildren, Savannah, Paige, and Cy Prevatte; Ava Grace and Alden Payne; Grayson and Britt Sink; as well as sister, Margaret East; daughter-in-law Janene Budnik; and a stepson, David L. Watkins (Linda). A funeral service will be held 2:30 PM Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Friedberg Moravian Church with Rev. G. Thomas Shelton and Rev. James C. Newsome, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friedberg Moravian Church, 2178 Friedberg Church Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
