KERNERSVILLE - Ella Mae Parsons Hayes, 67, went home to be with the Lord, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Monday, August 11, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born September 29, 1940 in Lee Co., Virginia. She has now joined her mother, Allie M. Parsons and her father, R.E. Parsons in her new heavenly home. Ella was a 1958 graduate of Dryden High School in Dryden, Virginia. She was a remarkable and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Her love and dedication to her family was legendary, and will be missed by all who knew and respected her. Surviving are her husband, Bob Hayes; a son, Bobby Hayes (Margaret); a daughter, Tracy Pearce (Jamie); four grandchildren, Evan Pearce, Laken Pearce, Gabrielle Pearce, and Malinda Hayes all of Kernersville; six sisters, Thelma Castle of Gray, TN, Frances Christian (Bill), Mabel Gerea Hayman (Terry) all of Kingsport, TN, Mary Ruth Copeland (Ron) of Hiltons, VA, Nadine Simpson (Carl), and Joyce McMahan (Gale) all of Big Stone Gap, VA; three brothers, John Parsons (Linda), Harold Parsons (Lennie) all of Kingsport, TN, and R.E. Parsons (Barbara) of Big Stone Gap, VA. A funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 pm Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Hayworth Miller Cain Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Bonnie Harris officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 pm prior to the service. A private committal service will be conducted at 11:00 am Friday, August 15, 2008 at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory.
