Ella Mae McKinney Byers

WALKERTOWN-Ella Mae McKinney Byers, 73, passed away Monday, July 7, 2014 at her home. Mae was a wife, mother, the best Maw Maw and friend. She was born May 31, 1941 in Transylvania Co. to the late Charlie Clayton and Viola ""Granny"" Emma Jones McKinney.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Arville Byers.

Surviving are her daughter, Teresa Byers Hampton and husband, C.D.; son, Arville Darrain Byers; grandchildren, John Hampton and wife, Chasitity, Kristopher Byers, and a grandbaby on the way; four brothers, five sisters; two best friends that were like her sisters, Ruth M. and Faye G.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
