Elizabeth "Lib" Hartman

Elizabeth “Lib” Penland Hartman, 95, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Alston Brook in Lexington.

Lib was born on July 23, 1927 to the late William Gaston Penland and Lottie “Penny” Tullock Penland. She was a member of Enterprise Moravian Church.

Lib worked for Southern Bell as an operator earlier in life until she married and stayed home to care for her family. She had a passion for gardening and flowers and was a member of the National Garden Club and Arcadia Home and Garden Club.

In addition to her parents, Lib was preceded in death by her former husband and father to her daughter, Shutt Hartman; and infant son, Marcus Hartman.

Surviving family includes her daughter, Joyce H. Crutchfield and husband Mike; and special caregiver, Brenda Parnell.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Alston Brook for the love and care they showed to Lib.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 15, 2022 at Parklawn Memorial Park, with Rev. Arkon Stewart officiating.
