Mrs. Elizabeth Poff ""Betty"" Hardin, 81 of King, NC passed away Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Hardin was born March 31, 1927 in Mercer County, West Virginia to Ernest and Elizabeth Turner Poff. She was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church since 1969, where she sang in the church choir for many years, and was a charter member of the Golden Triad Chapter of Sweet Adelines. Betty was a Kindergarten Teacher with St. Paul's Episcopal Church for many years and also worked as a secretary at the Salem College Governors School during the summer. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Clayton Hardin, a son, William C. Hardin, II and a brother, Howard L. Poff. Surviving are a daughter; Victoria Lilly and husband, Bob of Rural Hall, a son, Timothy Hardin of Lakin, West Virginia, a grandson, Rob Lilly and wife, Karen of King, NC, two great grandsons, Brandon and Austin Lilly and a sister, Vashti Hardin and husband, Joseph of St. Albans, West Virginia. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The Funeral Service will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, February 11 at the Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel officiated by Rev. Neil Shaw. Burial will follow in the Parklawn Memorial Park. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Village Care in King for the love and care given to Betty and her family.
