Elizabeth 'Jippy' A. Davis-Wood

Mrs. Elizabeth ""Jippy"" A. Davis-Wood died Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Priddy Manor. She was born in Rural Hall to Charles and Addie Styles Anderson on February 7, 1925. She graduated from Rural Hall High School and enjoyed one year studying art at Forsyth Tech. She was a secretary to Mr. C. E. Brady before her marriage to Wade Davis, of Richmond, VA on August 5, 1950 at the Nazareth Lutheran Church. Wade was employed by A.M.F. World Tobacco Group in N.Y. During their marriage they traveled extensively over Europe, Asia, The Middle East and Far East. This was an exciting, loving, and interesting life. When Wade retired they moved to Rural Hall where they were both active members of the Lutheran Church. Wade died January 5, 1975. Before ""Jippy's"" death she was head of the Alter Guild and Greeter and Bell Ringer. She looked forward to hugging each person on Sunday morning when they entered the church as she handed them their bulletin. Happy years were spent with the Busy Fingers Garden Club and volunteering with Crisis Control. She loved birds and working in the yard. On December 1, 2001, Jippy and Harvey Lee Wood of Winston-Salem and Emerald Isle were married. Their happy ""sweet"" marriage ended too soon on March 13, 2002. ""Jippy"" was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jack Anderson (Vivian) and sisters, Margaret (Paul) Bennett, Jean (Lee) Hodges; brother-in-law, Joe Totherow. Surviving by sister, Hilda Totherow; Nieces, Sara Newsome and Iris White of Rural Hall, Faith (Craig) Ashton of Chapel Hill, Judy (Walter) Tuttle of Greenville, SC, Paula Totherow, Rutherfordton, Linda Scheele and Joan Bennett-Keser (Dan) of Portland, OR, Brenda (Jerrell) Rogers of Jasper, AL, nephew Johnny (Debra) Anderson of Moore, SC; many great nieces and nephews. Loving and caring step-children, Cindy (Donny) Hutchens of King, Keith (Carol) Wood and Betsy Vanover; Special Friends Donna and Megan Helms. A funeral service will be held 11:30 AM, Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 11:30 at Nazareth Lutheran Church with Roger Hull officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Tuesday at the Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Nazareth Lutheran Church, 460 Bethania Rural Hall Rd, Rural Hall, NC 27045.
