Elie is remembered with love by his wife of 49 years, Aida Simaan, his daughters, Lillian (Joshua) Dawson, Leila (Aneal) Hanooman, Marlo (Wesam) Yacoub, and his grandchildren, Joseph, Elie, Gabrielle, and Isabella. He was the oldest of six siblings and is survived by Toufic (Randa) Simaan, Antoine (Nahla) Simaan, Grace (Shafic) Andraos, and Simone (Kristie) Simaan, along with many close nieces, nephews, and cousins. Elie was preceded in death by his parents, Maroun and Angele Simaan, and his brother, George Simaan. Elie left his beloved Lebanon when he was young. He brought with him the best qualities of his homeland, and was known by all for his warmth and generosity. He was a husband who provided, supported and loved his family; a father who taught his children right from wrong, to work hard and to be the best version of themselves; a friend that was always there, wanting to help and waiting with open arms. Family and friends traveled from all over the world to spend time with Elie during his illness, and he was surrounded by love because he selflessly and patiently created that love, every day of his life. His greatest joys were spending time with his loved ones and hunting in the fields. He loved to have a good time and wanted everyone around him to be happy too – whether it was joking, sitting around the table talking, watching soccer or dancing at a party. He leaves a huge hole in our hearts. We thank each of you for being there for him, and for your help, prayers, and love. Your calls and visits were medicine that helped him cope with his disease. We pray his memory is a blessing to you, as you have been to us.
A funeral service will held at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Saint Pius X Roman Catholic Church. Interment will take place at 2:30 pm at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory.
