Elfreda Kiser Swindler

Mrs. Elfreda Loretta Kiser Swindler, 87, of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Swindler was born in Greenup County, KY on February 13, 1923 to Benjamin Harrison and Grace Miranda Kiser. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Mocksville, where she enjoyed singing in the choir, working with the grief community and in the church library, as well as being involved with her Sunday school class. She graduated from Wake Forest College with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. After graduating, she began working at NC Baptist Hospital. Mrs. Swindler retired from the Veterans Administration as head of the lab with over 20 years service and later volunteered in the lab at the Mocksville Hospital. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law. Mrs. Swindler was preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, Robert H. Swindler; her parents; and a sister Ethlyn Kiser Nelson. She is survived by a daughter, Marie S. Rodden and husband Richard of Winston-Salem; a son Paul Swindler and wife Janis of Clemmons; and three grandchildren, Robert Rodden, Megan Swindler, and Josh Swindler. A memorial service will be conducted 3:00 pm Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at New Philadelphia Moravian Church with Dr. Worth Green and the Rev. Paul Riggs officiating. Interment will be at Salisbury National Park at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Mocksville, 412 N.
