Mrs. Eleanor Darnell Pardue, 78 of Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center. Eleanor was born May 24, 1933 in Elkin, NC to the late, Arvil F. and Clara Ayers Darnell. She was a graduate of High Point University and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Winston-Salem, where she was president of the Fore Runners Club. Eleanor was retired as Project Manager in the Product Development Department with Hanes Hosiery/Sara Lee Corp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. ""Bob"" Pardue, Sr., a son; Robert E. ""Bob"" Pardue, Jr. and two sisters, Jackie Cater and Ruby D. Wilson. Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter, Diane Greiss and husband, Frank of Winston-Salem, a granddaughter, Briana ""Bre"" Marie Polley Van Dorpe and husband, Lucas, a great-grandson; Ethan Michael Greenhalgh, two brothers; Arvil Lee Darnell, Lima, Ohio, Arvid F. ""Pete"" Darnell of Las Vegas, NV., three sisters; Joann D. Nance of Cridersville, Ohio, Jean D. Mack of Dayton, Ohio, and Doris D. Dehner, Richmond, VA. A Memorial Service will be conducted 3:30 pm Monday, May 14, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the family receiving friends 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Westlawn Gardens of Memory, Clemmons, NC. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Winston-Salem, 501 West Fifth Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101, to the Ronald McDonald House, 419 South Hawthorne Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
