Eleanor Barnes

Eleanor Easley Barnes died on December 7, 2022.  She was born on November 16, 1929, to Eleanor and Allen Easley and grew up in Wake Forest, NC.  Her beloved stepmother was Madge H. Easley.  After graduating from Westhampton College in Richmond, VA, she taught public school music and piano lessons, and worked for North Carolina Wesleyan College.  She resided in Rocky Mount, NC for 36 years, and later in Winston Salem, NC for 26 years.

Eleanor was married to the late Donald B. Barnes of Winston Salem, NC, and is survived by her three children, Anne Barnes (Bruce Sher), Clara Wells (C.L. Wells), and John Barnes (Dr. Linda Barrett); seven grandchildren, Molly Sher, Catherine Shor (Nick), Mackenzie Di Nardo (Derek), Chandler Wells, Jack Barnes, Andrew Barnes, Aedan Barnes; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her family will celebrate her life privately, and she will be buried beside her husband in the family plot in Wake Forest, NC.
